FAQ
WHAT ISSUES DO YOU WORK WITH?
My rate is €60 per hour. However, I can offer a rate of €30 for people on Social Welfare payments.
I have experience working with many issues, see About Me for more detail.

There are generally no issues I won't work with. If I feel however that you may benefit more from a specialised therapist, I will not hesitate to inform you and where possible refer you to another therapist.
WHAT HAPPENS IN MY FIRST THERAPY SESSION?
In the first session, I will answer any questions you may have about the process or my training.

I will then ask you to tell me a little about what's brought you to therapy and explore what you're hoping to gain by coming.

Towards the end of the session, I will ask if you would like to return. If you say yes, we can agree a plan for your therapy and discuss contract issues. This will cover confidentiality agreement; data protection and cancellation policy.
HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE?
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COUNSELLING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY?
Counselling is usually short term and focuses on a life event that has occurred or changing a pattern of`behaviour which is causing difficulty.

Psychotherapy on the other hand is usually more long term and will delve a lot deeper into the root of behavioural or emotional difficulties.
WHAT RULES MUST YOU ABIDE BY AS A THERAPIST?
As a member of the Irish Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists(IACP), I must abide by their Code of ethics. See Useful Links page for more detail.
